BUSCH’S FRESH FOOD MARKET CONDUCTING ANNUAL FALL MILK DRIVE FROM MONDAY SEPTEMBER 27TH THROUGH SUNDAY OCTOBER 10TH
Busch’s Fresh Food Market is joining forces with local groups, including United Dairy Industry of Michigan along with Michigan Farmers for their annual Fall Milk Drive in an effort to mitigate the need for milk in the communities Busch’s Fresh Food Market serves. The drive which runs from Monday, September 27th through Sunday, October 10th at all Busch’s Fresh Food Market locations, will raise and donate funds to a variety of local charities including Forgotten Harvest and Food Gatherers.
Busch’s Fresh Food Market guests need only to advise cashiers that they would like to donate a gallon of milk and the cashier will ask the cost to their total bill. In previous years, as much as nearly 50,000 gallons of milk was donated to local food banks, and it is the goal this year to eclipse that amount.
“Milk Means More (United Dairy Industry of Michigan) values the strong partnership we have developed with Busch’s and more importantly, Busch’s shoppers over the last several years. Their generosity in supporting the biannual milk drive is spectacular and together with the Michigan dairy farmers’ support, have donated over 7 million glasses of bone-building, fresh cow’s milk to local families via the food banks. In addition, we have been able to support distribution of the milk through grants to Forgotten Harvest and the purchase of a refrigerated truck for Food Gatherers. What’s more, local high school athletic teams now ask for ways they can support the drive. It has become a true community endeavor,” says Sharon Toth, MS, RDN, CEO of UDIM.
