Cold Brew Coffee Shaved Ice

Prep: 20 minutes plus steeping
Cook: 1 minute • Serves: 8

1-1/2 cups French roast ground coffee
1/4 cup granulated pure cane sugar
8 cups ice
1/2 cup canned sweetened condensed milk

1. In glass jar or container, stir coffee and 3 cups water; let stand 5 minutes. Stir coffee mixture; cover and refrigerate to steep at least 12 or up to 24 hours.

2.In small saucepan, heat sugar and 1/4 cup water to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally; boil 1 minute or until sugar is dissolved. Cool simple syrup completely; refrigerate in an airtight container. Makes about 1/3 cup.

3.Line fine-mesh strainer with double layer of cheesecloth. Strain coffee mixture through cheesecloth into clean glass jar and stir in simple syrup; discard coffee grounds. Makes about 2 cups.

4.For each shaved ice, in blender, finely crush 1 cup ice; transfer to 8-ounce glass. Pour 1/4 cup cold brew over ice; drizzle with 1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk.
