Fruity Mulled Wine

3 cinnamon sticks plus additional for garnish (optional)
6 cups dry red wine
3 cups apple cider
3 cups fresh orange juice
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon orange zest
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Orange slices for garnish (optional)
1. In large saucepot, stir cloves, cinnamon sticks, wine, cider, juice, sugar, orange zest, ginger and nutmeg; heat to a simmer over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
2. Strain wine mixture through fine-mesh strainer into separate large saucepot. Makes about 10 cups.
3. Serve mulled wine warm garnished with orange slices and/or cinnamon sticks, if desired.
