Grilled Strawberry Shortcake Parfait

Prep: 15 minutes plus soaking
Grill: 5 minutes • Serves: 4

4 (10-inch) wooden skewers
1 pound strawberries, hulled
4 dessert shells
Nonstick cooking spray
3/4 cup powdered sugar
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
2 tablespoons half and half
2 tablespoons sliced almonds

1. Prepare outdoor grill for direct grilling over medium heat; soak skewers in water 30 minutes.

2. Thread strawberries onto skewers; spray strawberries and dessert shells with cooking spray. Place strawberries on hot grill rack; cover and cook 5 minutes or until grill marks appear, turning once. During last minute of cooking, place dessert shells on hot grill rack; cover and cook 1 minute or until grill marks appear, turning once. Transfer strawberries and dessert shells to cutting board; cool slightly. Remove strawberries from skewers and quarter; cut dessert shells into 1-inch pieces.

3. In medium bowl, with mixer on medium-high speed, beat sugar, butter and half and half 5 minutes or until light and fluffy. Makes about 3/4 cup.

4. Alternately layer strawberries, dessert shell pieces and sugar mixture into 4 bowls; sprinkle with almonds.
